Hapoel Tel Aviv’s trip to face Maccabi Petah Tikva in the Israeli Premier League descended into chaos at the weekend after defender Edi Gotlieb was sent off for stopping a pitch invader.

The incident came with the scores level at 1-1, with the home side taking the lead after just four minutes thanks to former Israel youth international Mohammed Awaed.

The match was level just five minutes later thanks to Brazilian winger Farley Vieira Rosa, which was followed by 80 minutes of goalless action.

However, the game won’t be remembered for the action during play, with an incident involving an unwelcome fan on the pitch and two of the travelling players leaving spectators baffled.
