Manchester United suffered a late 2-1 defeat in their opening Champions League outing away at Young Boys – meaning Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already failed to keep one of his promises this season.

The Red Devils initially took the lead out in Switzerland, with returning hero Cristiano Ronaldo breaking the deadlock after 13 minutes.

However, 10 minutes before half-time Aaron Wan-Bissaka was brandished a straight red card for a dangerous challenge on Young Boys’ Christopher Martins, a moment which proved costly.

Because the hosts went on to complete a stunning turnaround in the second half, first drawing level through Moumi Ngamaleu after 66 minutes.
