Former professional golfer Paige Spiranac has slammed Justin Thomas after the American used a homophobic slur.

Thomas uttered the highly-offensive word ‘f*****t’ after missing a putt at the Tournament of Champions, with Spiranac saying the slur should ‘never be tolerated’.

His foul language was picked up by microphones on the course on Saturday night, with the world No.3 golfer subsequently apologising for his use of the word, admitting he was ‘embarrassed’ by his actions.

Spiranac, who is now a social media personality after her retirement, condemned Thomas, although she did say he ‘should not be cancelled’.

The 27-year-old revealed her views when commenting on golf fans’ tweets following Thomas’ comment.
